Nursery/Kids Connection Staff Worker

Purpose:

To provide dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care to the children while in a church environment. Nurturing children with activities, books and school supplies. The nursery ages are 6mos-12 years old with the hours during church service on Sunday’s (10:00am – 12:30), and a Wednesday night (6:00pm – 9:00pm) to equal approximately six (6) hours a week. (A perfect position for a home mom that wants a few hours of work every week.)

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Providing age-appropriate care including: feeding, changing diapers, escorting a child to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, putting children down for a nap, holding, sitting, rocking and playing with the child. Cheerfully interacting with the children through games, stories, play and prayer. Universal precautions should always be used while changing diapers or time of body fluids.
  • Always be polite, friendly and courteous to all children, parents and volunteers.
  • Stay until all children are secured with a responsible adult named on the child’s registration form.
  • Straighten the room, vacuum, clean and sanitize toys and equipment, empty garbage before leaving.
  • All toys that have had contact with saliva will require special attention. A sanitizing solution will be available to use in the nursery.
  • May have the option to work other events, with the opportunity for extra work will be announced as soon as possible and worked out on the schedule.

You are expected to work all Sunday’s even if it falls on a holiday, but can request day’s off, by communicating via email or phone request two weeks in advance. All absences must be preapproved in advance. This position reports to the administrative office manager or staff parish representative for issues which are hindering carrying out these responsibilities.

Qualifications:

This nursery teacher must have two (2) years of experience with childcare and completed a child development or early childhood training.

  • Prior experience working in childcare is a must
  • Up to date immunizations
  • Must pass a background check
  • Strong knowledge of educational techniques and methods for teaching young children
  • Patient and supportive approach to the learning process
  • Enthusiastic and encouraging
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 

Hourly pay starting at $15 – $16 an hour depending on experience.
